Tom Aspinall turned Jon Jones’s Christmas into a nightmare

Tom Aspinall has grown tired of Jon Jones avoiding him. The interim heavyweight champion has been patiently waiting for an opportunity to unify the title with “Bones,” but the latter seems unmovable. While Dana White has hinted that one of the biggest fights of 2025 could be Jones versus Aspinall, the pound-for-pound king appears more interested in facing Alex Pereira.

Tom Aspinall Turns Jon Jones’ Christmas into a Nightmare

Adding to the frustration, “Bones” defended his title with a spectacular win at UFC 309 last month. Returning to the octagon for the first time since submitting Ciryl Gane, Jones delivered a commanding victory over Stipe Miocic. Following his win at UFC 309, Jones was asked by Joe Rogan if the interim champion might be his next opponent. Unfortunately, the 37-year-old did not provide a definitive answer. Speaking in a recent interview with YouTuber Alex Gonzalez, “Bones” reiterated his comments on facing the interim champion. According to him, if the UFC wants to push the fight, they will need to ensure Jones is paid a hefty sum.

Meanwhile, frustrated by Jones “ducking” him, the British heavyweight decided to troll him humorously this holiday season. This time, Aspinall’s callout was more comedic than serious, as he took on the role of photo editor. In a hilarious post, “Honey Badger” uploaded an image of a roasted duck with Jones’ face photoshopped onto it. He captioned the post, “Christmas dinner is served.” Aspinall’s lighthearted jab at Jones for avoiding him sent fans into a frenzy, with many weighing in on the situation.

Fans couldn’t hold back their laughter at Aspinall’s latest critique of Jones. One follower commented, “These must be Jon Jones fans crying,” while another added, “Tom seems to have realized that respectful talk isn’t getting him this fight.”

A Comedic Callout with Serious Undertones

Aspinall’s playful wordplay and antics resonated well with fans, who thoroughly enjoyed commenting on the post and sharing their thoughts on who might win if the fight were to happen. A particularly determined fan wrote, “Can’t wait for Jones to take this loudmouth out. He talks too much.” Meanwhile, another chimed in, “Aspinall’s personality seems to revolve around begging for a fight with Jon Jones.”

This isn’t the first time the Brit has showcased his humor while calling out Jones. Following “Bones’” win at UFC 309, “Honey Badger” shared a funny video on X, mocking Jones’ quirks. In the video, Aspinall humorously referenced Jones’ promotional tactics, saying, “Think Jon Jones merch, buy a little duck, just all the nonsense he does. He annoys me. He annoys me so much… Ducks and chickens are kind of funny.”

Aspinall’s response, “Who’s that, Jon?” was a direct jab at Jones for dodging the potential fight. One fan remarked in defense of Jones, “It’ll be fun when [Jon] takes the fight and sends Aspinall to obscurity. Then I’d love to see what these couch athletes will say.” Another quipped, “This guy is clearly obsessed with Jones.”

Will This Game of Cat and Mouse End in the Octagon?

The criticisms didn’t stop there. Aspinall recently responded to a UFC post on YouTube featuring a photoshopped image of their face-off. Instead of Jones’ arm being altered, it was his height. The British fighter joked about the edit, questioning, “What is Jon taking to make him that tall?” This comment was a subtle dig at Jones’ past controversies involving banned substances and added fuel to the ongoing banter.

As fans eagerly await a resolution, the question remains: When will this game of cat and mouse conclude with a showdown inside the octagon? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
