Devin Haney, after a challenging year and a no-contest result in his fight with Ryan Garcia, is back in the gym with trainer Mickey Bey and his father Bill, focusing on a strong comeback in 2025, with a renewed sense of determination and improved chemistry in his training.

Haney’s Return to Training: A Fresh Start After a Challenge Year

After a tough year full of setbacks and controversy, Devin Haney is back in the gym and preparing for a big comeback in 2025. The undefeated junior welterweight (31-0, 15 KOs) faced major disappointment when his highly anticipated Ryan Garcia fight ended in a no-contest after Garcia’s failed drug test. Despite the drama, Haney is back on track, refreshed, and more determined than ever to prove himself.

Haney, now training under the watchful eye of veteran trainer Mickey Bey, is making strides toward a successful return. Mickey Bey rejoined Team Haney about a month ago, alongside Devin’s father, Bill Haney, to help guide him through the next chapter of his career. Bey has been impressed with Haney’s progress, noting how the break from constant fighting has given the young boxer a much-needed reset. Bey shared, “He’s already looking good, refreshed. I think he needed a little break, to be honest, because he hasn’t had one since turning pro.” Bey is confident that Haney will be super sharp when he steps back into the ring.

Team Haney’s New Dynamic: A Winning Chemistry

With Mickey Bey back in the corner, the chemistry between Haney and his trainers is stronger than ever. The collaboration between Bey and Bill Haney has been seamless, as the two work together every day to create the best training plan for Devin. While Mickey Bey takes on a prominent role in training, both trainers have an open dialogue about how to approach each session. This flexible, pressure-free approach allows Haney to focus on improving his skills while balancing his personal life.

Even after receiving heavy criticism—especially following the Garcia fight—Devin Haney remains laser-focused on silencing his critics. Mickey Bey drew parallels to how Floyd Mayweather was often targeted by fans, with many hoping to see his downfall. Bey believes Haney is facing similar scrutiny, but he’s confident that Haney will rise above it and prove his worth. “We know how to handle it in a healthy way,” Bey said, “but it also makes it fun. As soon as he fights, we’ll quiet all the noise.”  With his eye on 2025, Haney is ready to get back to what he does best—dominate the ring and make a statement.
