George Kambosos Jr. has partnered with Matchroom Boxing to move up to the super lightweight division, with his next fight scheduled for February 2024 in Australia, potentially against Mathieu Germain, alongside two women’s world championship bouts.

Kambosos Moves Up to Super Lightweight and Joins Matchroom Boxing

George Kambosos Jr. is ready to make a major comeback in the boxing world. The former unified lightweight champion has teamed up with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and his longtime promoter, DiBella Entertainment. This new partnership marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the 31-year-old as he moves up to the super lightweight division for his next fight.

Kambosos is set to return to the ring in February 2024, with an Australian venue—likely in Brisbane or Gold Coast. While the exact date and location are still to be confirmed, fans are eager to see him back after his last fight in May 2023. Kambosos is looking to bounce back from recent setbacks, including back-to-back losses to Devin Haney, the former undisputed lightweight champion. Despite these losses, Kambosos remains a major draw in Australia, and his new partnership with Matchroom could set the stage for some major showdowns.

Kambosos’ Next Opponent and February Card Details

The frontrunner to face Kambosos in his return is Montreal’s Mathieu Germain (25-2-1, 10 KOs). The fight is expected to headline a major DAZN boxing event, streaming worldwide. Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) will be looking to prove he still has what it takes in the super lightweight division, and this fight is his chance to show fans he’s ready for the next level.

In addition to Kambosos’ return, the February boxing card will also feature two major women’s world championship fights. Skye Nicholson (12-0, 1KO) from Australia will defend her WBC featherweight title against Tiara Brown (17-0, 11KOs) from Florida. Additionally, Nina Hughes (6-1, 2 KOs) from England will seek to avenge her controversial loss to Cherneka Johnson (16-2, 6 KOs) for the WBA bantamweight title.

With an action-packed night lined up, Kambosos’ return is one of the biggest highlights. From the Kambosos vs. Germain showdown to the women’s title fights, February promises to be an exciting night for boxing fans.
