Shi Ming is making waves across Chinese social media. Balancing life as a traditional medicine doctor and a fearless MMA fighter, her unique journey showcases the perfect blend of ancient healing arts and modern martial prowess.

Doctor by Day, Fighter by Night

Shi Ming is a trained traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioner, specializing in acupuncture and massage therapy. By day, she works in a hospital, often described as quiet and studious, with thick glasses and a modest demeanor. However, by night, she transforms into a rising MMA star.

Recently, she made headlines by winning a $50,000 MMA match with a knockout blow that hospitalized her opponent. Her victory earned her viral fame, with netizens dubbing her the “Female Wong Fei Hung” and “Doctor Who Fights.”

Martial Arts Beginnings and MMA Breakthrough

Raised in a family deeply rooted in tradition, Shi Ming began her martial arts journey at age 13, training in Tai Chi and later adding Taekwondo, Sanda, and wrestling to her repertoire. Her father, a martial artist, and her grandfather, a traditional healer, influenced her path.

Her introduction to MMA came during a university camp, where a coach noticed her talent. After encouragement, she entered the competitive scene in 2018. By 2020, Shi Ming had claimed 12 championship titles in China, Korea, and Myanmar, competing in the 54 kg weight class.

Her crowning moment came during the Mulan War, an all-female MMA tournament, where her skill and resilience solidified her as a standout fighter.

Merging Medicine with Martial Arts

Shi Ming’s deep knowledge of anatomy and pressure points from her TCM training gives her a strategic edge in the ring. Her precise strikes often incapacitate opponents, and her understanding of traditional therapy accelerates recovery from grueling fights.

Martial arts and medicine complement each other,” she stated in an interview. “They’ve made me stronger both physically and mentally.”

Battling Zhang Weili and Stunning the Crowd

Shi Ming’s reputation soared after sparring with Zhang Weili, China’s top female MMA fighter. Using her signature sweeping kick, she momentarily grounded Zhang, earning the veteran’s admiration. Social media buzzed with comments about her dual expertise.

On November 23, Shi Ming thrilled fans again with a knockout victory against Feng Xiaocan. Even Zhang Weili, present in the audience, jumped in excitement at her performance.

A Bright Future Ahead

Shi Ming has recently signed a contract with UFC, the world’s largest MMA organization. While she’s preparing for an international career, she remains committed to completing her medical education.

Her story of balancing traditional Chinese medicine and MMA success resonates as an inspiring testament to discipline, ambition, and the power of blending ancient practices with modern goals.
