Miguel Oliveira Highlights Yamaha’s “Huge Effort” for Pramac MotoGP Project
Miguel Oliveira has expressed confidence in Yamaha’s dedication to their new satellite partnership with Pramac, crediting the manufacturer’s factory engineers for convincing him during the recent MotoGP test in Barcelona.
Having operated with just two factory bikes over the past couple of seasons, Yamaha is returning to a four-bike lineup in 2025, supported by the inclusion of Pramac Racing as their satellite team. Notably, for the first time in Yamaha’s MotoGP history, the satellite bikes will feature full factory specifications, identical to those ridden by Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins of the Monster Energy Yamaha team.
For Oliveira, this approach is the only viable path to remain competitive. “We are witnessing a huge effort from Yamaha to balance materials across all the bikes,” Oliveira said. “For the first time in their history, they are ensuring parity, and it’s definitely the right way forward. It’s the only way if you want to catch up to the competition.”
Since debuting in MotoGP with Tech3 in 2019, Oliveira has raced for Red Bull KTM, RNF, and Trackhouse Aprilia. The Barcelona test marked his first experience working closely with a Japanese manufacturer, offering a unique perspective.
“It’s definitely different but also refreshing,” Oliveira explained. “You have to communicate very directly, and they’ll double-check with you to ensure they understand exactly what you mean. It’s great because, aside from the data, our comments are the only things they rely on to make decisions.”
Another major advantage for Oliveira and his teammate, Jack Miller, is Yamaha’s new concession status, which grants them access to private MotoGP tests. This shift is a result of Yamaha’s current standings in the D-classification for concessions.
“I’m ready to put in the laps and test everything,” Oliveira said about the expanded 2025 testing schedule. “I know what’s ahead, and it’s exciting to have the opportunity to contribute and help the team progress.”
This increased testing opportunity includes participation in next year’s Sepang Shakedown test, set to precede the official pre-season tests in early February.
Yamaha’s commitment to closing the performance gap in MotoGP is evident through their all-in strategy with Pramac Racing. Oliveira’s confidence in their progress signals promising prospects for the collaboration, as both factory and satellite teams gear up for a competitive 2025 season.
