Ralf Schumacher Discusses Mick’s Potential Return

Ralf Schumacher , former F1 driver, has not ruled out the possibility of his nephew , Mick Schumacher , returning to F1 with the Cadillac team in 2026. Following the announcement on 25 November that Cadillac-General Motors’ entry application had been provisionally approved , the team will officially join the F1 grid , bringing the total number of teams to 11 and the total number of drivers to 22.

Cadillac Seeks New Talent

Valtteri Bottas has expressed interest in the project, suggesting that Cadillac could partner with an American driver , such as Colton Herta . Ralf Schumacher believes that GM will look to American talent to round out the team. “I’m pretty sure they’ll rely on American talent ,” he told Sky Germany.

 
However, Ralf also stressed that IndyCar racing is not exactly the equivalent of Formula 1. “We’ve seen that in testing ,” he said, but acknowledged that there are still undiscovered talents .

When asked about the possibility of Mick Schumacher being a candidate for a seat at Cadillac, Ralf did not hesitate to say that it was a viable option . “I think they would have a familiar name to start with,” he said. This suggests that Mick could be a logical choice to help Cadillac build a racing team from the ground up .

Ralf Schumacher also stressed that starting a new team is not an easy task . “You have to start from scratch , and that is difficult,” he admitted. Therefore, having a famous and experienced driver like Mick will help strengthen the team’s foundation.
