DeAndre Hopkins Shuts Down Retirement Rumors: “I’m Not Done Yet!”

Veteran NFL wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has made it clear that his career is far from over. In a now-deleted social media post, the Kansas City Chiefs star addressed speculation about his retirement, stating, “Don’t know what you heard, but I’m not done yet.”

Hopkins Plans to Play in 2025
As the NFL’s active leader in receiving yards (12,965), the 32-year-old intends to continue his career into the 2025 NFL season. However, where he will play remains uncertain. Hopkins joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024 after a midseason trade from the Tennessee Titans. Despite battling an injury early on, he managed 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns in 10 regular-season games.
A Struggle in the Playoffs
Hopkins faced challenges during the postseason. He was catch-less in the Divisional Round, recorded only one reception for 11 yards in the AFC Championship Game, and struggled in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles. Though he scored a touchdown during the Chiefs’ attempted comeback, he finished the game with just two receptions for 18 yards.
Following the Super Bowl loss, Hopkins expressed his frustration: “It’s a loss. I feel the same after every loss, but obviously, this one has a little bit more meaning.”
What’s Next for Hopkins?
Despite a career-low season in 2024, Hopkins remains a valuable asset for teams looking for a veteran wide receiver. One potential destination could be the Houston Texans, where he previously starred. With Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods entering free agency and Tank Dell recovering from a severe knee injury, the Texans might consider bringing back one of their all-time greats.
Hopkins currently ranks second in Texans history in receptions (632), receiving yards (8,602), and touchdowns (54), trailing only Hall of Famer Andre Johnson.
Will Hopkins Return to Houston?
As the 2025 NFL offseason unfolds, speculation continues about Hopkins’ next move. Whether he stays in Kansas City, returns to Houston, or joins another contender, one thing is clear—he’s not ready to walk away from the game just yet.
