Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow‘s Ohio home was the target of a burglary on December 9, 2024, and now four Chilean nationals have been arrested in connection with the crime. The suspects were apprehended after being involved in a suspicious incident in Fairborn, Ohio, where authorities linked them to the crime.

The Investigation and Arrests

On January 10, 2025, a special agent with the Ohio State Highway Patrol noticed suspicious activity near a hotel in Fairborn. The agent saw four individuals carrying luggage into a vehicle, and upon pulling the car over, they discovered that the suspects—Alexander Chavez, Bastian Morales, Jordan Sanchez, and Sergio Cabello—were in possession of fake identification. Furthermore, the car emitted the smell of marijuana, and upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the suspects were in the country illegally, as per court records filed in Clark County, Ohio.

A search of the vehicle revealed significant evidence linking the men to the burglary. Among the items found were two Husky automatic center punch tools, which are commonly used by South American theft groups to break glass and gain access to homes. Additionally, an old LSU shirt and a Bengals hat were discovered in the car, which were believed to have been stolen from Burrow’s home during the December burglary.

Evidence Points to the Burglary

According to court documents, further investigation revealed that the suspects were connected to a broader series of crimes. One of the key pieces of evidence was the connection of Morales’ phone to the burglary scene, based on cellphone data. Morales was also observed carrying a Louis Vuitton style bag and had previously been identified as a possible suspect on the day of the incident.

The investigation has revealed that this is part of an ongoing pattern of crimes involving multiple South American burglary groups, particularly those targeting multi-million-dollar residences across the United States. Authorities have already arrested at least six different groups, with five of them being Chilean nationals.

A Nationwide Crime Network

This burglary at Joe Burrow’s home is not an isolated incident. It is part of a broader pattern of high-profile celebrity home burglaries that have been plaguing the United States. These South American crime rings are reportedly responsible for a significant number of thefts targeting athletes and other high-net-worth individuals. The tools and tactics used by these groups are becoming increasingly sophisticated, posing a challenge for law enforcement agencies across the nation.

As investigations continue, authorities remain vigilant in tracking down and dismantling these criminal networks. While Joe Burrow’s home was targeted in this particular case, it is clear that these groups have a broader scope, targeting affluent neighborhoods and the homes of high-profile individuals across the country.
