Kurt Angle Opens Up About John Cena’s Retirement Match and Hall of Fame Induction
As John Cena prepares to retire from wrestling at the end of 2025, speculation about his final match and WWE Hall of Fame induction has captured fans’ attention. While many dream of seeing a farewell match between Cena and Kurt Angle, the WWE Hall of Famer has revealed that such a scenario, though ideal, is not physically feasible for him.
In a recent interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Angle shared his admiration for Cena and the regret that his current physical condition prevents him from participating in Cena’s retirement match.
Angle’s Thoughts on Wrestling Cena One Last Time
“I would love to wrestle John Cena,” Angle admitted. “There’s nobody that wants to wrestle John more than I do for his retirement match, especially with the respect I have for him. I just can’t do it.”
When asked why training for several months wouldn’t make the match possible, Angle explained that his body simply wouldn’t hold up to the rigors of preparing for and performing in a match of that magnitude.
“If I get in the ring and start beating myself up, I’ll never heal,” Angle said. “I could just walk in there cold and have a match with him, but then I’d probably regret it when I was done.”
Inducting John Cena into the WWE Hall of Fame
While a farewell match might be off the table, Angle expressed his enthusiasm for potentially inducting Cena into the WWE Hall of Fame. Reflecting on Cena’s incredible career, Angle suggested a few others who could also be deserving of the honor, including Randy Orton and Stephanie McMahon.
“Randy Orton was his biggest competition, his nemesis. But don’t forget Stephanie McMahon; she discovered his rapping ability and supported him a lot early in his career,” Angle said. “That said, I’d be honored to induct John Cena. He’s shown that he is possibly the greatest WWE Superstar of all time.”
Angle went on to highlight Cena’s historic achievement of winning 16 World Heavyweight Titles in a single company, a feat unmatched in WWE history. “To do it all in one company makes you that company’s greatest star,” Angle emphasized.
The Legacy of John Cena
Cena’s career has been nothing short of legendary. From his groundbreaking debut to his dominance in WWE, Cena has become an icon not only in wrestling but also in entertainment and philanthropy. With the possibility of a 17th World Heavyweight Championship before retiring, Cena’s legacy is set to reach even greater heights.
Whether or not Kurt Angle inducts him, Cena’s Hall of Fame moment will undoubtedly be a historic event for the WWE Universe.
