Mike Tyson in Depression After Loss to Jake Paul

Mike Tyson in Depression After Loss to Jake Paul

Mike Tyson, the boxer once known as “The Most Dangerous Man on the Planet” and “Iron Mike,” is going through a difficult phase after his loss to Jake Paul on November 15th. The fight not only marked his seventh professional defeat but also left Tyson in a state of depression. However, the $20 million reward from the 16-minute fight has been a significant consolation for him.

Physical Appearance Changes After the Loss

Six weeks after the fight, Tyson has struggled to maintain the impressive physique that astonished many during his preparation. His waistline has notably increased, and his six-pack abs have gradually disappeared. Moreover, Tyson has returned to his daily smoking habit, which he had previously quit in preparation for the fight.

Though his outward demeanor suggests Tyson appears happy, the weight gain and unhealthy lifestyle raise concerns about his true mental state following the loss to a much younger opponent.

The Struggles Before the Fight

Tyson faced significant challenges leading up to his bout with Jake Paul. Prior to this, a serious illness caused him to delay the originally scheduled fight in July. Tyson shared with Intelligencer magazine that he nearly lost his life due to severe blood loss, requiring eight blood transfusions.

Tyson shared, “I lost 25 pounds (11.3 kg) in 11 days. I could only drink liquids. The smell in the bathroom was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, it smelled like tar. The doctor said I had lost half the blood in my body. I almost died.

Despite this, he still worked to regain his strength to face Paul in November, but rushed preparations and the burden of age prevented him from performing as expected.

A Defeat to Forget

At 58, Tyson no longer possesses the same agility and stamina as during his prime. His opponent, Jake Paul, a younger YouTuber, quickly recognized Tyson’s weakness and opted to “take it easy” during the fight. This not only led to Tyson’s defeat but also damaged his reputation among his fans.

Tyson admitted that he no longer cares about his legacy in the boxing world. The $20 million for such a brief fight is enough to allow him to return to his regular life without worrying about his fame.
