Novak Djokovic Concerned About Leg Injury

During the Australian Open 2025 quarterfinal match against Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic faced a left leg injury that forced him to bandage his thigh and utilize medical timeouts to continue competing. Following his victory, Djokovic admitted that his current condition leaves him uncertain about the upcoming semifinal.

Injury Forces Djokovic into Intensive Recovery

Djokovic revealed that a rest day before his match against Alexander Zverev is critical for assessing his health. He stated:
“I will try to do everything possible with my recovery team and physiotherapist over the next few days. I might even skip practice tomorrow. Everything now revolves around recovery.”

While refraining from disclosing specific details about his injury, Djokovic confirmed that it was not a new issue. He recalled facing a similar left thigh injury during his 2023 Australian Open championship run.

“This injury is very similar to 2023. At that time, I relied on painkillers, and now it’s the same. The medication starts working after 20-30 minutes, but I had to take another dose early in the fourth set,” Djokovic explained.

Despite his injury concerns, Djokovic secured a convincing victory over Alcaraz, a young and talented contender. He described the nearly four-hour match as a Grand Slam final-level battle.

“This was my best match of the tournament so far and possibly one of the best men’s singles matches of the entire event. Carlos brought an incredible intensity that forced me to play at my absolute best to win,” Djokovic shared.
