Despite another disappointing postseason loss, the Baltimore Ravens are unwavering in their belief that Lamar Jackson will eventually win a Super Bowl. Following the Ravens’ 27-25 defeat to the Buffalo Bills on January 19, 2025, Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard voiced the team’s confidence in Jackson, saying, “It’s inevitable. He’s going to win a Super Bowl, and I want to be a part of it.”

Lamar Jackson’s Struggles and Continued Determination

Despite Lamar Jackson‘s impressive career, which includes being a two-time NFL MVP, the 28-year-old quarterback has yet to reach a Super Bowl, let alone win one. The loss to the Buffalo Bills pushed his postseason record to 3-5, and he remains the only two-time MVP in NFL history without a Super Bowl appearance. Jackson’s performance against the Bills was challenging at times; he threw an interception in the first quarter and lost a fumble in the second. However, Jackson nearly orchestrated a remarkable comeback, throwing a 24-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Likely, narrowing the gap to 27-25 with 1 minute, 33 seconds left. Unfortunately, his attempt at a game-tying 2-point conversion pass was dropped by tight end Mark Andrews.

Ravens Believe Jackson’s Time Will Come

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Ricard and other Ravens players remain optimistic about Jackson’s future success. “I personally feel bad for him because he deserves it just because of how great of a player he is,” said Ricard. “He deserves to be considered one of the best quarterbacks. He already is, but I know everyone considers championships as the standard, and he’ll get it one day.”

Ricard also compared Jackson to Peyton Manning, noting that both players had similar career trajectories. Manning, like Jackson, won multiple NFL MVP awards early in his career but faced struggles in the playoffs. Ultimately, Manning went on to win two Super Bowls. Ricard is confident that Jackson, still young and in his prime, will have his day on the biggest stage.

A Historic Season and Future Potential

In addition to his playoff struggles, Jackson has continued to break records in the regular season. He became the first player in NFL history to throw for over 40 touchdown passes and fewer than five interceptions in a single season, finishing the 2024 season with 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions. His exceptional performance has placed him in the running to become the youngest player to win MVP three times, with the award being announced at the NFL Honors on February 6, 2025.

However, despite Jackson’s individual brilliance, the Ravens have yet to win back-to-back playoff games in his career. With 11 turnovers in the playoffs since entering the league in 2018, Jackson’s postseason struggles have continued to be a major point of focus.

Jackson’s Determination and Focus on the Future

Zay Flowers, Ravens wide receiver, acknowledged the frustration Jackson is feeling, saying, “Oh, he’s mad. He’s mad for sure… But we know what we’re supposed to do and we know the only way that we can’t do what we want to is what we did yesterday.” Jackson’s resolve remains strong, and his drive to bring the Ravens their first Super Bowl remains unshaken.
