The Golden State Warriors faced a brutal defeat at the hands of the Boston Celtics, suffering a 125-85 blowout loss at home. Head coach Steve Kerr did not hold back in his postgame comments, calling the loss “demoralizing” and emphasizing the need to move forward quickly.

The Warriors were short-handed, missing key players such as Draymond Green (calf injury), Jonathan Kuminga (ankle injury), and other important contributors like Kyle Anderson and Brandin Podziemski. Despite the roster challenges, Kerr stressed the importance of bouncing back for their upcoming game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

“We just kind of take it week by week. We’ve got Sacramento on Wednesday and we’ve got to flush this one down the toilet and get ready for Sac,” Kerr stated via 95.7 The Game. “We’ve been very competitive all year. Our guys have fought, but we’ve had a handful of these where we just get blown out. These are demoralizing. The most important thing for me is for our guys to forget this one. We have a day off tomorrow, and then be ready to roll in Sacramento.”

Warriors’ Struggles Continue

The loss drops the Warriors’ record to 21-21, snapping their modest two-game win streak. On the other hand, the Celtics improved to 30-13, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 18 points, while Moses Moody contributed 13 points off the bench. Unfortunately, no other Warriors player managed to score in double figures, highlighting their offensive struggles.

Meanwhile, the Celtics showcased their depth with six players scoring in double figures, including:

  • Jayson Tatum – 22 points

  • Kristaps Porzingis – 18 points (in his return to the lineup)

  • Jaylen Brown – 17 points

  • Payton Pritchard – 14 points (off the bench)

  • Sam Hauser – 11 points (off the bench)

  • Jrue Holiday – 10 points

What’s Next for the Warriors?

After a strong 12-3 start to the 2024-25 NBA season, the Warriors have struggled significantly, going 9-18 since. With the NBA trade deadline approaching, there is speculation that the team might look to make moves to bolster their roster.

Potential trade targets include Kelly Olynyk, Jonas Valanciunas, Nikola Vucevic, and Robert Williams III, all of whom could provide much-needed frontcourt depth. The Warriors were previously linked to Lauri Markkanen and Paul George in the offseason but were reportedly unwilling to part with their young core in a potential deal.

Kerr’s Focus on Moving Forward

Despite the crushing loss, Kerr remains focused on staying positive and preparing for the next challenge. The Warriors will need to regroup quickly and find solutions to their ongoing struggles if they hope to stay competitive in a tough Western Conference.

The upcoming matchup against the Sacramento Kings will be a crucial test for Golden State as they look to regain momentum and stay in the playoff hunt.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Golden State Warriors as they navigate through the challenges of the season and the potential trade rumors swirling around the team.
