Tom Aspinall mocks the UFC for using magic to make Jon Jones stronger

A few years ago, UFC grabbed attention from fans when they replaced a fighter’s arm with that of another in promotional posts. This even happened with Jon Jones, whose arm was replaced by Francis Ngannou’s arm. Now, UFC has done it again with Bones, and his designated opponent, interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, raised a question related to this.

UFC’s Magic

Recently, UFC shared a YouTube post with an edited face-off image between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. This time, not his arm but his height was edited. When Aspinall accidentally saw the post, he had a surprising reaction, wondering “What did Bones drink to get taller than me?” This seemed to be a jab at Jones’ past issues with banned substances.

In the post shared by Dana White and the UFC team, Tom Aspinall commented, which later appeared on Reddit. He was seen asking, “What did Jon drink to get that tall?” Clearly, Jon Jones is not a small man by any means, standing at 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm). However, he is still shorter than Tom Aspinall, who stands an inch taller than the man often regarded as the greatest of all time. So, it’s no surprise that this UFC post left the Briton surprised.

The Height Edit of Jon Jones

While Jon Jones is not a short fighter at all with a height of 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm), he still isn’t as tall as Tom Aspinall, who is one inch taller (194 cm). The editing of Jones’ height in the UFC post raised suspicions about how Jones was made to look “taller” than he really is. This prompted Aspinall to express his surprise and not hesitate to criticize the tricks UFC used to “inflate” Jones’ image.

UFC’s Trickery: Is This Just a Marketing Strategy?

The reason behind UFC editing this image could simply be to draw more attention to the potential matchup between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. However, this action caused discomfort among fans and industry professionals. Edited images like this are nothing new and, once again, Tom Aspinall has openly criticized UFC’s tactics.

Aspinall also referenced the previous controversies surrounding Jon Jones and banned substances. The height editing seemed to be a way to enhance Jones’ “superhuman” image, even though he has been heavily criticized in the past regarding doping. Nevertheless, Aspinall’s question further escalated the situation, raising the issue of whether UFC is aiding in creating these exaggerated personas for a fighter dealing with major reputation issues like Jon Jones.

The Decisive Fight Between Aspinall and Jones

Amid all the attention surrounding these controversies and marketing tricks, one undeniable truth is that Tom Aspinall is seen as a real threat who could hand Jon Jones his first career loss in MMA. This is the fight Aspinall has long been waiting for, and the good news is that Dana White has agreed to book the fight.

However, a major question remains: Will this fight take place in Aspinall’s home country of the United Kingdom? A UFC legend has spoken out and claimed that it’s unlikely. This only adds to the tension and growing anticipation of when and where the fight between Jones and Aspinall will take place.
